A native of Ottawa, Ontario, Rachelle Blum received a Bachelor's
degree of Fine Arts with honours, from the theatre faculty of York
University . Rachelle was then one of two students invited to study
performance at the University of Northumbria in Newcastle, England
on a full scholarship. Upon her return home from the UK, Rachelle
entered the Professional Musical Theatre Program at CAP 21 (NYU
TISCH) in New York City.
After completing her studies at NYU Rachelle auditioned for the
Looking Glass Theatre's production of FLAWED and was granted her
first New York stage credit. In September of 2004 Rachelle was thrilled
to join the Michael Chekhov Theatre Company in New York and was
soon cast in their revival of "Uncommon Women" where she
played the lead role, Holly.
Canadian fans may have seen Rachelle on a series of commercials
for the 2005 Bessie Awards. Most recently, Rachelle completed filming
Emmanuel Shirinian's CFC Film "Born Into This" where she
played the principal role of Elena. Later this month Rachelle will
begin shooting CHUM International's new sci-fi thriller "Ice
Planet" with Michael Ironside.
Rachelle currently travels between New York, Toronto, Los Angeles
and Montreal.
